BEAMS, the Built Environment Advisory and Management Service, assists local authorities, architects, surveyors, building contractors, developers, owners of historic buildings and the general public with the conservation of Hertfordshire’s built heritage.

We are committed to promoting good practice in conservation and championing design in the built environment. This is achieved through a range of services, a number of which BEAMS provides through a partnership arrangement with Hertfordshire County Council:-

• expert witness for public inquiries and appeals
• historic building appraisals/assessments
• conservation area appraisals/assessments
• house histories
• buildings at risk surveys
• seminars and workshops
• craft skills directory

BEAMS administrates and convenes;

Hertfordshire Conservation Forum
• Architects Advisory Panel

BEAMS also works alongside both local and national organisations as;

English Heritage
• SAVE Britain’s Heritage
